- What are the Krell Adventure Games?
In developing the Krell Adventure Games, we aimed to create the next step in obstacle racing, and something that could appeal to everyone. As opposed to having a set course, you can choose how much of the course you want to do, how fast you want to go and how hard you want to push yourself (and your teammate).
Teams of 2 enter the “Arena” with a map and have 3 hours to complete as many of the obstacles and challenges as possible. Some will be physical, some will be mental. ALL will be challenging.
- Do any of the race proceeds go to charity?
Yes, Krell Adventure Games will be donating a portion of each team’s registration fee for the Pocono Mountains event to Little Eric’s Foundation for the awareness and research of Pediatric Brain & Childhood Cancer. In 2013, we helped to raise money for Eric Speicher, a local young teenage boy, who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Unfortunately, Eric passed away in late 2013, but his family is committed to helping other children with the disease and have formed the Foundation in his honor. We are proud to join them in this mission.
- How long is the event?
We prefer to think about the event in terms of time and not distance. The actual distance will vary depending on the choices you make during the event and the number of challenges and obstacles you choose to attempt. You can estimate between 4 and 6 miles depending on your route choice to clear the entire course. There are times you will be able to run and there are times you will need to crawl. You will have a 3 hour time limit in the Arena.
- Do I need to train for the event?
No, but it is recommended to be in general good health. The design of the event is so that YOU can choose how hard you want to push youself. However, it would be helpful to be in decent physical shape as you will encounter rough terrain and challenging obstacles.
- Do I need a teammate or can I race solo?
You will need a teammate (and we allow kids to race with a parent!) as many of the obstacles require team work to be completed. Please let us know if you are looking for a teammate and we will do our best to pair you up with others looking for a teammate.
- How do I register?
Please go to the registration link that can be found on each Event page.
- How do I get my race number and packet pick up info?
Race numbers and packet pick up will be on the day of the event. Please allow at least 30 to 45 minutes for the registration process.
- What kind of obstacles and challenges will I face?
See “THE GAMES” page of our site for some examples…but remember, this is an adventure, so you’ll just have to show up to find out.
- What do I need to bring to the event?
The only mandatory items will be a good pair of trail shoes and one watch per team. However, please consider that you will be traversing rugged terrain (and you won’t always be on trails) and challenging obstacles, so you may wish to have long pants and long sleeves. Some people like to wear gloves and/or knee pads while obstacle racing…this is up to you. Please also pay attention to the weather forecast for the day of the event as you will be exposed to the elements.
You may also want to bring a change of shoes & clothes as you WILL get dirty. This may make you more comfortable during the post event festivities.
- Does the team need to stay together?
Yes, you will need to stay together the entire time you are in the Arena.
- Will you have a bag check?
For the Pocono Mountains event, we will have a Bag Check.
- What do I get with my entry fee?
Moisture wicking t-shirt.

Post race awards for the Competitive Waves (8:30-10:00 am).
Fun and festive atmosphere.

- Why do I have to pay an insurance fee?
Unfortunately, with the rising cost of event insurance, we had to pass on a portion of these fees to participants. Most other obstacle races have likewise done the same. Krell Adventures purchases Accident Coverage WHICH PROVIDES LIMITED COVERAGE to participants UNDER SOME CIRCUMSTANCES for medical bills arising from an injury suffered / obtained while participating on site at a Krell Adventures event.
Note that Accident Coverage does NOT include Disability Insurance / Loss of Income coverage. NOTWITHSTANDING THE FOREGOING, PARTICIPATION IN THE KRELL ADVENTURE GAMES IS AT THE PARTICIPANT’S SOLE RISK. For more information, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Do you offer refunds if I can’t make it?
Our refund policy is as follows:
100% 60 days or longer prior to the event.
50% 30 – 60 days prior to the event.
Non refundable within 30 days of the event.
However, you may transfer 100% of your registration fee to a future event anytime.
- What if the weather is bad? Will the event still take place?
The event will take place regardless of weather, so make sure you check and come prepared for being out in the elements for up to 3 hours.
- What is the “Arena”?
The “Arena” is the terrain on which our event will be taking place. There will be specific boundaries that you will need to stay within. The terrain will be varied with some trails and some rugged areas with dense vegetation. Come prepared for an adventure!
- Where can I get a map of the Arena?
Maps of the Arena (along with your course instructions) will be handed out 15 minutes prior to your entry into the Arena in our “staging area.”
- Can I bring family/friends to the event?
Yes, there will be a festive atmosphere for family and friends who are not participating. There will also be some areas where spectators can view certain challenges.
- Will there be food and beverages available?
We will provide water in the Arena at select locations. Please plan to bring whatever else you may feel that you will need to last the entire 3 hours. We will also have food and beverages available for sale outside the Arena.
- Can I volunteer at the Krell Adventure Games?
Yes, please contact us if you are interested in volunteering. Volunteers will also receive special discounts on future events.
